At this level we start to see a big difference between the serious and the non- serious karate students. The amount of material is tremendous if the student is not practicing regularly. The form Pinan Shodon has some new moves that can be challenging and the pattern will also be challenging. Once the student shows that they know their the form and combinations they will be awarded a blue tip. Once that is achieved they will work on perfecting the form and learn their 3 one steps.
To get a Blue tip the student needs to demonstrate knowledge. To earn a Blue Belt the Student needs to show mastery of all techniques. There needs to be a very clear distinctions between a front stance and a back stance. All kicks should be above waist high. Power, focus and speed should all be apparent. Students demonstrate knowledge of all previous levels.
Must be very focused and serious. Crisp technique, every move must have a clear beginning and end. One steps must look and be effective. This level is the first time stamina comes into play. The test will contain approximately 20 minutes of non-stop physical exertion.
Practice 15 minutes at least 4 times a week. Taking at least two classes a week will enhance every thing and avoid practicing moves incorrectly. Do some aerobic exercise at least three times a week. Continue using a practice calendar.
Usually 6 months to a year. You will be
notified as to when and where the test is at least a week prior to its
taking place. Very rarely would someone test for blue belt in their own
class because the test is at least a half hour long and would take up most
if not all of the class time.
